Everyone is aware that security is the main concern for outdoor lighting for most homes. How can we make our nest safer especially at night when the danger lurking is more palpable? Porches, patios and landscaped gardens need to be well lit. Apart from the security concern is the cost and energy that is required to set up the lights.

The outdoor lights also become important as families chose to dine out in the garden with friends during summers. There are different kinds of ways one can keep the exterior of the house illuminated. Right at the gateway on the high walls tall lamp covered shades can start giving the source of light. As one drives inside the hedge way can be lit with small lights that lead the path to the patio and to the garden. Some consumers may find it difficult to add too many lights due to electricity billing. The use of solar lamps has become common now. Solar path lights d not need extra charging or source. They get charged during the day in the sun light and reflect their energy at night.

If you have a little water feature like a pond or fountain in the garden keep that area well lit. Keeping it in the dark can be dangerous. The use of solar lights outdoors has a choice between continuous and flickering lights. The small fairy lights can be used during parties. They come in various colours to make the area look like a wonderland. Large trees can also be decorated with little lights to give it a festive look.

But the real reason why people install outdoor lights is security. That is more important than dining in the garden in summers. The different kinds that can be installed are spot lights, landscape lights, and porch lights. With these come the bulbs or lights that will be featured. The different kinds of lamps available in the market are CFL (compact fluorescent lamps), High intensity discharge lamps and solar powered lights. A more illuminated approach would be to make a combination of one or two types. Should one fail the other keeps the light source alive all night long. What is also essential is how the lights will be mounted and at what points. Porch lights should be powerful enough to keep strangers away from the property. A well lit home gives happiness and peace.
